Why chemically induced?
All photographs on this site are created on black and white film, but that's only the beginning of their journey.
Then comes the stinky, messy, and sometimes hazardous chemicals. They're part of the process from film developing all the way until final toning. No other method gives the same quality, permanence, and fine control.
They often stain my shoes and always smell funny, but alas, it's true love.

Kansas State Fair, 2010 - Lith print
Traditionalists beware!
This section breaks from traditional photography. Silver gelatin, bromoil, or lith printing may be mixed with beeswax, powder pigments, liquid emulsion, or other tomfooleries. If all goes well, lines will be crossed and toes will be stepped on.
Stay tuned for updates on current projects.
Cloud County, Kansas - 2010
Fun stuff coming soon:
- Why I'm old-school and shoot film and print in a darkroom.
- Influences in photography, painting, sculpture, movies, architecture, and more.
- Philosophies of flyover country.
- What makes me tick artistically.
- Why Oklahoma Joe's in Kansas City is the best BBQ on the planet.
- ...And more!
Email for questions or print availability.
All photographs are printed on fiber or cotton based paper and printed in a traditional wet darkroom to museum archival standards.
